This September, Improvizza! brings together improvisers from Malta and around the world for four evenings of completely unscripted theatre — with three different shows every night.

This year, we are proud to sponsor the participation of Alessio Granato!

As the festival’s official resident musician, Alessio will accompany the performances with live improvised music throughout all four days, collaborating with the actors on stage to create atmospheres, support the storytelling, and enrich each scene!

Saturday, September 19 [10am-1pm]

Alessio Granato will also lead a 3-hour workshop that explores how music, rhythm, silence, and listening can inspire improvisation and shape the emotional life of a scene.

Open to all levels: no musical experience is required — just a willingness to connect, listen, and allow yourself to be carried by the energy of music.

Music can move us, energise us, surprise us, and awaken emotions we didn’t even know were there.

Alessio’s passion for theatre began in childhood. In 2007 he started his improvisation journey with Compagnia Maia in Latina, performing in both short and long form and later working as a teacher. He works internationally as an improv musician, actor, and trainer, collaborating with companies such as Appiccicaticci and i Bugiardini, and performing in shows including “B.L.U.E. Il Musical Completamente Improvvisato” and “Shhh! An Improvised Silent Movie”, which featured at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. He is a regular musician and teacher at international festivals including Welcome! Improvvisazioni dal Mondo, Pandora Improv Festival, and Improvizza (Malta), and collaborates with several improv companies across Italy.
