Italian architect and academic Maurizio Oddo brings a deeply analytical lens to architectural practice, grounded in both design and historical research. Holding doctorates in Architectural Design and History of Architecture from the Universities of Catania and Palermo respectively, Oddo is also a professor at the University of Enna “Kore.” In 2002, he co-founded Studio BoMa with Alessandro Barracco, completing projects such as Casa Ditta, the New Library of Enna, and Piazza Belvedere of Triscina.
At the Ħaġra Festival, Oddo will present a selection of his work, illustrating how his practice weaves together scholarly inquiry and built form. With past curatorial projects, his contribution to the field extends beyond architecture into architecture as cultural discourse.
Light refreshments offered by the Institute will be served at the end of the presentation
Ħaġra | An Architecture Festival for the Mediterranean Region
12-18 May 2025 | St Elmo Examinations Centre, Valletta
The first edition of Ħaġra Festival 2025 invites you to engage with the ever-evolving discourse of contemporary architecture in the Mediterranean Basin. As a platform for critical dialogue, innovation, and reflection, the festival brings together architects and the wider community to examine the forces shaping our built environment.
The Mediterranean, a historic crossroads of cultures and ideas, now faces unprecedented environmental, social, and political challenges. In this shifting landscape, architecture plays a crucial role in responding to issues of climate change, resource scarcity, conflict, urban transformation, and the ethics of preservation versus demolition.
Stemming from Din L-Art Ħelwa, the festival will feature a curated programme of roundtable discussions, exhibitions, and both local and international presentations on contemporary architectural practice. Join us this May to walk, listen, discuss, and reimagine the future of Mediterranean architecture.
