“La Scatola Magica” : “Il pane: in giro per l’Italia

The Italian Cultural Institute, Valletta presents “La Scatola Magica” by Dott. Anna Porcheddu.

Cristiano Bagnaschi “Il pane: in giro per l’Italia”

This month Magic Box will help us discover a true Italian speciality: bread. There is even a Presidential Decree of 1998 that specifies characteristics and denominations. Have you ever heard of Michetta, Fresa, Ciabatta, Piadina, Taralli, Carasau, Cafone, Sciapo, Crescia? The list of regional bread types could go on forever. In Italy fresh bread is a must and you always find it on the table, in so many different kinds and shapes.

Our guest, Cristiano Bagnaschi, from Busto Arsizio,Lombardia region, is married and has been living in Malta since 2003. He was the owner and manager of an informal restaurant, Lo Spuntino, known above all for excellent pizza and focaccia. His interest in bread has developed in recent years, particularly using organic flour, rye, oats, spelt wheat, turmeric.

Cristiano will talk about the history of bread, different ways of making it and who knows … maybe we’ll also taste his bread.

Everybody is welcome

And entrance is free!
