On June 21, the day of the summer solstice, the world celebrates the Fête de la Musique, an event dedicated to the universal language of music and its unique ability to bring together people, cultures, and generations.
In this spirit, the Italian Cultural Institute of Valletta, with the support of the Embassy of Italy in Malta, presents an evening entirely dedicated to Venetian baroque music, featuring works by Antonio Vivaldi and Alessandro Marcello, two of the most representative figures of the Italian musical tradition.
Alongside the musicians of Corsivo Singers and Ensemble Isouard, the concert welcomes as a special guest the MelChoir Vocal Ensemble from Breda di Piave, a young and emerging choir on the Italian choral scene, invited to Malta to share with the audience this celebration of music and cultural exchange.
From the radiant pages of Beatus vir, to the celebrated Oboe Concerto (presented here in Maestro Gottardello’s transcription for grand organ), and culminating in the exuberant energy of the Gloria, the programme takes listeners on a journey through some of the most beloved works by the Venetian composers. Performed by choirs, soloists, instrumental ensemble and organ, these masterpieces will resonate within the evocative setting of the St Paul’s Pro-Cathedral.
