Templi preistorici e studi archeologici italiani

With Dr. Anna Porcheddu at the Italian Cultural Institute

The Magic Box

It’s the second Tuesday of the month, it’s 6.30 pm so it must be “The Magic Box” at the Italian Cultural Institute! Continuing the Programme, Dr Porcheddu is delighted to present the final of 2013 in this most successful series. And this month we will be turning our attention to the prehistoric temples of Malta and Gozo

This evening we are extremely pleased to welcome photographer Daniel Cilia to the Institute.

Daniel Cilia born in Victoria, Gozo and has been a prominent photographer for many years. He has published more than 80 books about the Maltese islands and their history. He has lectured in Norway and Florence, where he continues to work.

He has received several prizes and awards, among them: the Croce pro Merito Melitensi, from the  Order of St John in recognition to his  various publications about the Order, and the Gieħ Għawdex Award for his contribution to Gozo.

He will present a photographic show including archive  and contemporary photos. The Neolithic temples of Malta and Gozo are some of the first free standing structures in the world built around 3,600 BC. The people who built them haven’t just built them, but also decorated them in many different ways and  performed religious burying rites.

A glass of wine and something from Italy  will conclude the evening.
