“Mattia Preti e la Chiesa di Santa Caterina d’Italia tra storia e restauro”
It is 6.30 PM of the second Tuesday of the month and therefore our appointment with the Magic Box at the Institute! Following the huge success by Prof. Brincat and Nadia Bianchetti and her team, we have the pleasure to present the third appointment of the series. Today we shall deal with Art and Architecture. Tonight we give a warm welcome to Giuseppe Mantella, who is internationally known in the restoration area and who has already been a guest at the Institute. He studied in Rome and he was involved in several projects in Rome, China, Isreal, Italy and Malta. He is currently teaching at the University of Tirana, Albania. He has been working in Malta since 2005 on a project regarding Mattia Preti. He restored two Preti’s paintings, the counter-facade of St John Co-Cathedral, the Martyrdom of St. Catherine and the cupola of the Church of St Catherine of Italy. Tonight he will focus on Mattia Preti and the restoration of the Church of St Catherine of Italy. Finally, please join us for a glass of wine and some savouries.
