“Quando una famiglia entra nella storia”

Presentation of two books by Angela Mastronuzzi and Patricia Salomone

As a further introduction to books, this month, the Italian Cultural Institute has invited two authors, to present their books together as one is the sequel of the other:  ALHAMBRA – by Angela Mastronuzzi and MY PIZZA AND TOFFEE APPLES IN THE 1950s  – by Patricia Salomone.

The presentation will be conducted in Italian and English, with Maltese interjections,   at the Italian Cultural Institute, St George’s Square, Valletta on Wednesday 26 November at 18.30.  Entrance is free.

Angela Mastronuzzi is Patricia’s aunt.  She is an author and has published in Italy. Alhambra contains the memoirs of her Italian family from the early 1920s through the 20 years of Fascism in Italy and the tragic war years until her sister, Anna’s, marriage to Albert W Salomone, a young Maltese British officer.  By the happy ending, the author stresses the futility of war and hatred amongst people, race and nations.

Patricia Salomone is the firstborn child of that couple.  She is known, in Malta for her TV and Radio programmes.  Her book is the search for her identity, an intimate account of a little girl’s view of life in a Malta living through the last vestiges of British colonialism.
