Giovanna Di Lauro’s Exhibition in Valletta is the third stop of a successful project started in November 2015 with an exhibition at Palazzo ExGil in Campobasso, Italy.
The photos were captured with a smartphone, a medium which conveys immediateness and innovation. Iconic places of Malta are seen through the eyes of the young Italian photographer. The exhibition is the result of an unexpected initiative carried out by the photographer at the end of a traineeship period at the Manoel Theatre, thanks to the participation to the European mobility project ECVET-EcoTour. The exhibition has earned the patronage of the Italian Cultural Institute, the Assessorato della Cultura della Regione Molise, the Maltese Ministry for the Family and Social Solidarity, the Mediterranean Academy of Culture, Turism and Trade, AssoMalta (Associazione per il Commercio Italo Maltese), Manoel Theatre and Hermes Corporation. Giovanna Di Lauro, born in 1985, in Campobasso, Molise, has been a tennis player of the Italian junior national team. Ended her sports career, she specialised in visual, public and business communication. Di Lauro’s thesis entitled “Photographic identity: processes of reality construction through the image” earned her top marks with honors from the University of Milan. She currently works with some photographic studios and advertising agencies in Italy.
