“Juventus, la regina del calcio” with Giorgio Borg

This month Magic Box will certainly attract many people interested in sport as our guest, Giorgio Borg, will talk about a very well-known football team, Juventus. Needless to say, Giorgio is a great fan of this team. One of the reasons why he wanted to learn Italian when he was a child was being able to understand the live commentaries and also the interviews with the players after the matches.

Juventus Football Club S.p.A., from Latin iuventus, “youth”, colloquially known as Juve, is the first professional and the oldest association football club in Italy. It is based in Turin, Piedmont, and was founded in 1897 as Sport-Club Juventus by a group of young students from Turin. One of them was the first president, Eugenio Canfari.

Over time, the club has become a symbol of the nation’s “Italianità”, due to their tradition of success. It is recognised as one of the most influential in international football, having performed a decisive role in the World Cup triumphs of 1934, 1982 and 2006. The club’s fan base is larger than any other Italian football club and one of the largest worldwide. Support for Juventus is widespread throughout the country and abroad, mainly in countries with a significant presence of Italian immigrants.

If you want to know more or share your experiences with our guest, come and join us. He will answer all your questions over a glass of wine and some treats. Everybody is welcome and entrance is free.
