“Il violino si racconta”

Within the Magic Box

A very special event this month to celebrate Magic Box’s third birthday! Amazing how time flies: three years of interesting meetings on so many different topics! The variety of topics and the way in which our brilliant guests always present them certainly is what makes Magic Box so successful. On 12th March we will be celebrating this birthday in a beautiful setting, the Church of St. Catherine of Italy, Valletta, generously made available by Fr Gino Gauci, Chaplain for the Italian Community in Malta. We welcome our guest, Maestro Maurizio Rocca, who is taking part for the second time into an event organized by the Italian Cultural Institute, as last December he treated us to a greatly appreciated concert. Professor of violin at Conservatorio di musica di Palermo, Maestro Rocca will present “Il violino si racconta”, kind of “magic” introduction to the violin through which we’ll discover the secrets of one of the most beloved musical instruments. Who knows, maybe we’ll even persuade Maestro Rocca to play something for us…

Maestro Rocca is also responsible for a Youth Orchestra in Palermo and holds the position of second violin and soloist at Chamber Orchestra Salvatore Cicero. In 1987 he founded Ars Nova Quartet with which he performs in concerts. In recent years he has been increasingly closer to contemporary music, even taking part in record production.

Do you want to learn more about the violin, maybe find out where the most interesting violin museums are? Maestro Maurizio Rocca will be happy to answer any questions during his presentation.

Come and join us.

Everyone is welcome and entrance is free!
