WITHIN THE SECOND EDITION OF THE SETTIMANA DELLA CUCINA ITALIANA NEL MONDO
A public talk by enologist Salvatore Rizzuto and sommelier Elena Napoli, delegate to Club Malta – Associazione Italiana Sommelier (AIS)
A journey through the beautiful vineyards of Mt. Etna, through a landscape of volcanic rocks, forged by lava, black sands, ashes, pumice, scotch broom trees and Mediterranean Scrubs.
The vineyards of Mt. Etna are the pride of the Sicilian wine industry. These vineyards today have become a point of excellence of production in the world.
On the highest volcano in Europe, on approximately 800 hectares of terrain the Vitis vinifera is cultivated in its various varieties by around 100 winemakers. Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, Carricante and other minor varieties form part of the prestigious wine production. Modern production techniques in vineyards and in cellars are practiced alongside Sicilian traditions, extending the range of products from white and red wine, to rosé and prestigious sparkling wines.
The talk will be followed by wine tasting from Gambino and Al-Cantara – two of the most important cellars of Mt. Etna.
