The Magic Box
It’s the second Tuesday of the month, time for the ‘Magic Box’ at the Italian Cultural Institute with the seventh of this series of meetings which continue to achieve resounding success. This month we shall talk about the Maltese in Sicily. Tonight we have the pleasure to welcome Prof. Arnold Cassola at the Istituto.
Prof. Cassola is a very well-known figure on the Maltese political and academic scene as Professor of Maltese and Comparative Literature at the University of Malta.  He has held several and important political roles at the European level and the Italian Parliament.  In 2003 he was nominated Cavaliere dell’Ordine “Al Merito della Repubblica Italiana”.
The topic of Prof. Cassola’s topic tonight is “I maltesi di Trapani (1418-1455), giving us information about the Maltese and their activities in Trapani during the beginning of XV century Malta when the expression Maltensis natione (Maltese nation) was commonly used.  As always we shall conclude by joining Prof. Cassola for an informal chat and a glass of wine and some savouries.
