Every 21 June, since 1985, the European Year of Music, the World Music day is celebrated in Europe and all over the world. Several live music concerts are held every year on this day, in every city, featuring musicians of any grade and any genre. Free concerts, spontaneity, freedom, curiosity, and all kinds of music belong to this special Day. World Music Day in Italy is promoted by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, SIAE and is coordinated by AIPFM. For this year’s edition, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the World Music Day is exported thanks tothe Italian Cultural Institutes network and this year, for the first time in Malta, the Italian Cultural Institute in Valletta will take part in the celebration.
For the “Festa della Musica”, the Italian Cultural Institute has invited four talented artists. All musicians have extensive performing experience as soloists, chamber musicians and members of orchestras, including the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra. While they regularly perform a wide-ranging repertoire, they have a particular passion for baroque music, having given a number of concerts specifically dedicated to this era, such as with the Valletta International Baroque Ensemble.
