The mission and work of the Rotary Club have much in common with the work of Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta. For this reason we present “The Gardens of Calcutta”, a collection of poems in memory of the Blessed Mother Teresa by the poet Rosa Anna Asaro. The book, sponsored by District Rotarian Sicily-Malta, was translated into English by Patricia Solomon.
The author Rosa Anna Asaro will read some poems in the original version in Italian and these will be subsequently be re-read in English by Patricia Solomon. During the evening we will have the pleasure to listen to some people who have known personally this extraordinary figure. Amongst these are Mrs. Lillian Miceli Farrugia who, having worked with Mother Teresa, will speak to us about the great little woman who won the Nobel Prize for Peace in 1979, and sisters Monica and Anne Bharwani. The book “The Gardens of Calcutta” will be on sale and the money will be donated to the Rotary Foundation for their various humanitarian programs.
At the end of the evening, the poet will sign the book. Refreshments will follow.
