Magic Box
with Dr. Anna Porcheddu
It’s the second Tuesday of the month, it’s 6.30 pm, so it must be “The Magic Box” at the Italian Cultural Institute, an appointment you can’t miss! Continuing the programme, Dr Porcheddu is delighted to present the topic of May: “Emilio Sciberras: un maltese in Italia”.
This month we give a warm welcome to Dr Simon Mercieca, who lectures historical demography at the History Department at the University of Malta with special emphasis on population growth and development amongst people living in coastal areas. He has also taught history at other foreign Universities and has published extensively both in Malta and abroad.
In his presentation he will talk about one of the least known figures of Malta’s nineteenth-century political history, Emilio Sciberras, analysing the behaviour of this Maltese politician through the study of the letters that were exchanged between Emilio Sciberras and Giuseppe Mazzini, one of the main Italian Risorgimento leaders.
It is an informal evening, so questions are welcomed. Afterwards, as always, we can chat over a glass of wine and a little something. Everyone is welcome and entrance is free, so come early to ensure a seat.
