Classical music, from the Baroque era to the Nineteenth Century, music of the early Twentieth Century to film soundtracks and traditional Christmas Music.
After the great success of last year, the Italian Cultural Institute wished to organize a Christmas Concert as an occasion to listen to beautiful music played by talented Italian artists and to exchange Christmas greetings. The guest musicians for this year’s concert are the Hathor Plectrum Quartet.
The Hathor Plectrum quartet was born with the intention of studying and performing the rich original repertoire for plectrum instruments ranging from Baroque sonatas, nineteenth century music of the Italian and German instrumental schools, up to the modern and contemporary music, without overlooking the most beautiful passages of Neapolitan culture, arrangement of film soundtracks, through a research of tones which embraces the crystal clear sonority of the instruments.
They obtain their formation at the Conservatorio Niccolò Piccinni of Bari, participating in various prestigious competitions ranking always among the first places. They perform at renowned concert seasons (Rome, Sotto il cielo di Villa Torlonia; Perugia, Lune di Primavera; Taranto, Clam International Music Season) where they obtain unanimous consensus, both by the critics and the public.
All its members hold concerts and lessons at Universities in Europe, Africa and America. In October 2012, the Ensemble represented Italy at the International Guitar Festival in Guatemala. They are often invited in schools to hold lessons and concerts on the history and the iconography of the mandolin. The Quartet form an integral part of the Plectrum Orchestra of the Conservatorio Piccinni of Bari. In 2010 their CD Hathor Plectrum – live reached its fourth edition in an extremely short time.
They also perform with artisan instruments in Italian schools of end nineteenth and beginning twentieth stringed instruments.
