Afterselfie project was launched in 2014 with the purpose to promote a cultural exchange between Malta and Italy for the artists and for the other young professionals involved in the organization of this cultural event. For this reason “Afterselfie” project is divided into two phases: the first art exhibition is hosted by the prestigious St James Cavalier – Centre for Creativity of Valletta where, from 13 February to 15 March 2015, will be held the first art exhibition. Then the project will move to Trento, northern Italy, where Palazzo Trentini will host the second exhibit, between 15th and 31th of May.
The title Afterselfie – beyond masks | oltre le maschere makes reference to the main theme of this art exhibition: the human being’s self-representation and the complexity of managing the distance between to be and to appear, expecially with the growing of online social networks in our everyday life and the mania of taking selfies that is bringing to current Pirandello’s theory about the living masks, with a contemporary meaning.
Afterselfie is a group art exhibition with some young and considerable artists, Maltese and Italians: Raphael Vella, Elisa Von Brockdorff, Adrian Abela, Ritty Tacsum, Goghi&Goghi collective, Gabriele Grones, Jacopo Dimastrogiovanni, Elia Nadie and Debora Fella. On display latest works of art and works specifically created for Afterselfie project, showed for the very first time.
