This year, after a 20-year absence, the Triennale International Exhibition makes a comeback.
Palazzo dell’Arte, which hosts this International Exhibition is now a landmark in Milan’s cultural scene. The Triennale Design Museum hosts temporary international exhibitions, a special library, a theatre and various entertainment spots. The theme of this year’s Exhibition is “XXI Century. Design after Design”, one which will raise many questions on the meaning of design and its role in a world which is constantly changing. The main issues of this edition will focus on the spread of design skills in the various countries of the world in conjunction with the development of a global market and the breaking down of disciplinary boundaries between architecture, urban planning, design, landscape, communication and the new relationship between these different skills. From April to September, the Triennale will be a hub for multidisciplinary events organized in public and private locations between Milano and Monza. Each location of the Triennale has its own curator in charge of the theme of the exhibition. This exhibition functions also as a local laboratory which gives the opportunity to create new means of expression, allowing participants to interact with visitors.
Andrea Cancellato, General Director of Triennale International Exhibition will talk about the Exposition at the Italian Cultural Institute on Thursday 19 May at 19:00. A vin d’honneur will be offered after the event.
