“Le ville venete di Andrea Palladio”

After the summer break The Magic Box starts again with Vicenza and the Palladian Villas. Vicenza is one of the best places in Veneto, a beautiful city, full of palaces, villas, churches and monuments. When you say “Vicenza” you can’t help thinking of Andrea di Pietro della Gondola, known to history as Palladio, an architect admired throughout the world. In fact, during the sixteenth century, Andrea Palladio began to develop his own style, which we can recognise in a specific kind of Venetian villa, identified precisely as Palladian Villa. In 1996 Vicenza and the 24 villas designed by Palladio in the Region of Veneto – of which 16 in the province of Vicenza – received UNESCO recognition and were included in the World Heritage List. Federico Tamiozzo will tell us all about Palladio and the Palladian villas. Federico was born and raised, so to speak, in the shadow of one of these villas, sparking his interest in Palladio’s genius and his great passion for architecture and history of art. He has been working for SCS, Culture and Entertainment Group, for about ten years where he organizes events promoted by the Municipality of Vicenza and often works as a guide in some of the Palladian villas. Thanks to his extensive experience “in the field”, our guest will help us discover the charm of these villas, built by Palladio for the most important local families – especially for the aristocrats, but also for some members of Repubblica Veneta high bourgeoisie. And of course, he will be happy to answer all our questions over a glass of wine and some treats. We can’t wait! So be early as everyone is welcome and entrance is free!
