Arriva la Befana!

Within the series The Magic Box, with Dott.ssa Anna Porcheddu

This year Befana comes to Malta a bit later than usual … because she’s just back from Italy. She was so busy meeting all the Italian children that we had to give her a few more days to arrive in Malta. In fact, we’ll meet on 10th January, instead of 6th, and at 5.30 pm, so that we can have more time and fun with her.

But what do we really celebrate on 6th January? Many people simply associate the feast of Epiphany with this old lady called Befana. As a matter of fact, it is a celebration based on a very important religious feast, just like Christmas. Epiphany is the first day when Jesus appeared in public as an infant. According to the Holy Scriptures on the same date, 6th January, twelve days after the birth of Jesus, the Magi managed to find out where the son of God was born, and brought the sacred gifts, Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh, to him.

Are you curious? Do you want to learn more about Befana, this good old lady with her magic broom? Are you ready to play with us? Well… Befana will be with us with lots of games and activities for children and adults.

After the presentation there will be some treats and we’ll toast Befana. And don’t forget your socks! There might be some surprises!

See you there. Remember, 10th January at 5.30 pm!

Everybody is welcome and entrance is free.
