SCIENCE | INFORMATION GOES QUANTUM

Since its formulation, at the beginning of the 20th century, quantum mechanics challenges our common sense. From the renowned Schrödinger’s cat paradox to entanglement, quantum physical laws appear to be fundamentally different from those governing the macroscopic world. In the last few decades technological devices based on the strangeness of quantum mechanics have been proposed: from quantum computers to quantum teleportation. In this talk, an overview of such applications of quantum mechanics will be given, highlighting the worldwide effort to lead the next quantum revolution.
