The programme is very original and includes fascinating and ancient music by French and Italian composers such as Attaignant, Monteverdi, Frescobaldi and Stefano Landi.

The audience will be entertained to French and Italian traditional folk music, mostly of the 16th and 17th centuries – songs sung in the market place and in the courtyards of palaces, workers’ and sailors’ songs and some traditional sacred chants. These will be expressively interpreted through the use of diverse instruments, some of which are ancient instruments, like the viola da gamba and the magical lira da braccio. The audience will be enchanted by traditional old dances such as the pavane, the branle, the tammurriata and the pizzica which will accompany some of the music.

Simona Marini is an actress, singer, musician and theatre director. She is specially interested in traditional songs, particularly Italian, Slav and French. In 1994 she founded the artistic company Errance/In Vivo which she still directs. Since 2006 she has been involved in music and drama research projects at the Université de Paris 8.

Frédéric Martin is a flutist and violinist with a passion for Renaissance and Baroque music. He graduated in musicology from the Geneva Centre de Musique Ancienne but also has a passion for dancing, history and its traditions. He is enamoured of the lira da braccio. He has more than fifty CDs to his credit.

Florian Villain is Professor of Philosophy in Paris and Head of Sociology at the University of Caen in Normandy. He is very passionate about singing and playing music. He plays mostly the chitarra battente (ancient guitar from southern Italy), as well as mandolin and percussion.
