This month Magic Box will let you discover an unsual topic, the processing of lava stone.
Our guest, Armando Gelsomino, from Catania, will tell us about this very special material.
Lava stone is an element which originates from rivers of incandescent lava and It has special qualities, such as durability, indestructibility and resistance to thermal changes. It is a material that can offer a wide variety of uses, in urban works, flooring and various furnishing accessories used in interior finishing. Following a ceramisation process, this type of stone does not stain and because of its composition, it is unique in the world. From the hands of true artists, black lava takes shape while they transform the volcano’s destructive force into wonderful works of art.
There is even a museum in Catania dedicated to lava stone, the "Nino Valenziano Santangelo" Lava Stone Sculpture Museum.
In his presentation, Armando will talk about lava stone through his long experience in the field. He will also answer all our questions before concluding the evening over a glass of wine and some treats.
